The Beginning of a Journey

It all started long before Skye ever came into my life. About fifteen years ago, I found myself volunteering with the Red Cross and organizations like Missing People Sweden. Those days were filled with purpose, long hours spent searching, coordinating, hoping. There was something deeply meaningful about being part of the effort to reunite families, to bring answers where there had only been uncertainty.

But what truly captured my attention wasn’t just the work; it was the dogs. While we moved carefully, methodically narrowing down search areas, the dogs seemed to operate on an entirely different level. They covered vast distances with speed and precision that almost felt unreal. Watching them in action, it was hard not to be amazed and a little humbled by just how effective they were. Curiosity turned into fascination.

I began spending more time around the handlers and trainers, asking questions, trying to understand what made these dogs so extraordinary. What motivated them? How did they process information at such a rapid pace? The bond between humans and canines revealed new dimensions of loyalty, intelligence, and dedication that continue to inspire me every day.
